Dr. Rao is a board-certified radiation oncologist who specializes in providing advanced radiation oncology therapies using novel, state of the art techniques and treatment technologies to improve patient outcomes and minimize morbidity. He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed his internship in internal medicine at Georgetown University’s Washington Hospital Center. He then completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
Before joining with the Rohnert Park Cancer Center, Dr. Rao was an Associate Member at the NCI designated Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida and more recently was in charge of the head and neck and brain stereotactic radiosurgery programs for the Florida Hospital Orlando Tri-County system. Dr. Rao is a dedicated researcher who has presented his work at national and international meetings and has published in numerous medical journals including Cancer. Specifically, he has an interest in minimizing treatment toxicity and developing innovative radiation treatment techniques. Dr. Rao is an experienced clinical trialist and has accrued many patients to Radiation Therapy Oncology Group studies.
He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology & Oncology, the Radiological Society of North America, and holds board certification with the American Board of Radiology.
